The Insurgency watches Batman's press conference, where he reveals that he will execute Superman at Arkham Asylum, prompting the Insurgency to take action. When Batman arrives at the Fortress of Solitude moments later, he learns of his plan and makes plans to eliminate them. Nightwing helps fight Regime's Killer Frost, Amazo, Black Adam, and Talia Al Ghul, where they manage to retrieve the weapon. The Insurgency travels to the Fortress of Solitude to retrieve the weapon. Before being taken away by Superman of the Insurgency, Joker reveals that the Regime has Superman. After Harley's gang, the Joker Clan, is attacked by the Regime forces led by the Eradicator and Hawkgirl, they are rescued by the heroes. Joker teams up with the Harley Quinn and the Punchline of this world. The displaced Superman is captured by the members of the Regime Yellow Lantern and Hawkgirl after being injured by the Joker thanks to the arsenal of kryptonite. The heroes of the other universe became necessary after Nightwing died trying to reason with a grieving Batman and the other three aligned themselves with his new regime. Superman explains that he has a laser weapon that can defeat Batman in the Fortress of Solitude, which requires the DNA of the other four heroes to be unlocked, as he wanted to make sure he cannot defeat Batman for the account of he. Recognizing that she is weakened, Circe sends Mera to join the Insurgents, which includes the alternate Harvey Dent, who never indulged in criminal activities and is in fact one of Batman's best friends and the Insurgent's secret benefactor. Upon learning that Atlantis has accepted a treaty that will allow Batman to rule Atlantis, he rejects it, managing to defeat Regime Green Arrow, Regime Robin and the Ocean Master (from whom, she learns that it was he who accepted the treaty), before for Circe to show up. Mera travels to Atlantis to investigate the archives and learns of Batman's descent into tyranny. Insurgency Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) helps the other heroes to escape and subsequently introduces them to the Superman of this world. After discovering and defeating Regime Huntress and Regime Black Lightning, and subsequently freeing Mister Freeze there, Jessica Cruz returns to Metropolis where she faces off against Regime Sinestro and her own counterpart, Yellow Lantern (Jessica Cruz), who has joined the Sinestro Corps. Having reached this world's Metropolis and trying to find out what has happened, Mera heads to Atlantis to see what she can unearth in the Archives of Atlantis, while Jessica Cruz travels to Ferris Aircraft to find a recharge power for the ring through Insurgency Green Lantern (Hal Jordan)'s guidance. Superman and Joker confront the Regime in a dystopian Gotham, but Superman uses his powers to help them both escape, where they both go their separate ways. Unknowingly, Superman and the Joker are also accidentally teleported. The Insurgency transports part of the Justice League ( Nightwing, Green Lantern (Jessica Cruz), Cyborg and Mera) to their world to help them defeat the Regime. Since that incident, the superheroes have been divided into two groups: the Court of Knights led by Batman in his position as the High Knight, and the Insurgency led by Superman.įive years after the events of Vengeance: Knights Among Us Comics, the Insurgency discovers a universe where Ra’s and Joker's plan was unsuccessful. At Blackgate Penitentiary, Superman and Commissioner Gordon interrogate the Joker about how he obtained the nuke until the interrogation is interrupted by a saddened Batman who avenges Selina's death by killing his arch enemy. In an alternate world, Ra’s Al Ghul and the Joker have destroyed Gotham City with a nuke that exploded when Batman was tricked by the Joker into killing his wife, Selina Kyle, and their unborn son. As Joker and Punchline set a nuke on Gotham, various members of the Justice League and the Joker are transported to the alternate world, where Batman is now the oppressive ruler and Superman is a rebel trying to overthrow the empire. Meanwhile, in the real world, the Justice League faces off against their enemies, the Injustice League in Gotham and the Watchtower. When the culprit of the incident is discovered, Batman kills the Joker in retribution. In an alternate world, Ra’s Al Ghul and the Joker team up to break Batman from within, and trick him into murdering his wife, Selina Kyle (aka, Catwoman), and their unborn child mistakenly destroying Gotham City.
